Sunday August 16, 2009 - Tour veteran Gord Henderson notched his second career win on the Nevada Bob's Men's Tour, firing a one under par round of 71 at LochNess Links to win the fifth leg on the 2009 schedule by two shots over Lookout Point's Ian Penney.
Henderson, who earlier in the day participated in the club championship at Bridgewater, fashioned nines of 34 and 37 while making an eagle and three birdies along with ten pars and four bogeys. The one under score was Henderson's best in his eight years on the tour.

Henderson's other Tour win came in last year's finale at Ussher's Creek at Legends on the Niagara and he becomes the eleventh player to win multiple times in Tour history.
Penney notched four birdies in his round of 73 (36-37) to finish in second all alone. Rolling Meadows' Brad Cassidy (38-36) and Kenny Molkoski from Sparrow Lakes (38-36) tied for third with fine rounds of 74. There were four players tied for fifth, with Mike Bedard (41-34) from the host club, Queenston's Jon Odegaard (38-37) and the GAO's Ken Childs (40-35) and Nick Joon (38-37) all notching three over rounds of 75.
Tying for ninth position with rounds of 76 were Royal Niagara's Jesse Bedard (34-42), who made six birdies on the day, Tour co-chairman Bernie Bodogh (37-39) from Links of Niagara, rookie Doug Widner (41-35) from the host club and Matt Bosela (40-36), the event's defending champion from St. Catharines GCC.
There were six skins on the day, with each worth $90.00. Jesse Bedard made a birdie three on the 1st hole, the GAO's Andy Ragats made the only deuce on #5, Dave Abrams from Sawmill made a great two on the long par three 8th, winner Gord Henderson eagled the par five 9th, points leader Kyle Smith from Sawmill eagled the par five 14th and finally, rookie Donny Bedard from Royal Niagara chipped in for an eagle two on the par four 16th. Closest to the Hole winners were Port Colborne's Bob Goss, who wins a gift certificate from 13 Mountain Street Bistro for his tee shot on the 8th that stopped 5' 7" from the hole and Matt Bosela, who wins gear from Briggsy's Sportswear and Promotions for his tee shot on the 12th hole that stopped 10' 11" away. The 50/50 draw winner was Bill Puckering from Pelham Hills, who takes home $85.00.
With five events in the books, the overall standings see a points reset take place, with every competitors worst point total being eliminated in preparation for the final event of the year, considered a Tour major where the points count in the final tally. Kyle Smith retains the overall lead in the chase for the Jim McNeil Trophy and has a substantial edge over the second placed Ian Penney, who moves up from 7th position after his fine performance at LochNess. Rounding out the top five are Fox Run's Jim Briggs, the three-time defending overall Tour champion, Brad Cassidy and Lookout Point's Frank Mortensen. Anyone in the top eight has a mathematical chance to walk away with the Jim McNeil Trophy at Whirlpool GC.
Smith also maintains his large lead in the Niagara Golf Report Rookie of the Year race, with Brad Cassidy in second, Jesse Bedard in third, Doug Widner in fourth and Adam Briggs from Fox Run in fifth. Jim Briggs continues to lead in the Senior of the Year standings and is followed by Frank Mortensen in second, Thundering Waters' Tony Ravenda in third, Gord Henderson in fourth and Bob Goss in fifth.
The Tour committee would like to thank LochNess Links' Sandy and Stephen Billyard for hosting the Tour once again.
The final event on the Nevada Bob's Men's Tour takes place on Saturday August 29th at historic Whirlpool GC in Niagara Falls. Tee times will be made available sometime in the next few days.
